Prosecutor General files charges against former MP Karganbek Samakov and his son

AKIPRESS.COM - land plot General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan finished the criminal investigation into illegal transformation of agricultural land in Bishkek's suburb, located particularly on the territories of Lebedinovsky (134.2 ha), Baitik (100.0 ha) and Kara-Jygach (262.3 ha) rural municipalities for their subsequent sale.

Defendants in the case, according to results of the investigation, are former parliamentarian Karganbek Samakov – charged with organization of a corruption scheme; former president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev and his younger brother Janysh Bakiyev – with complicity in a corruption scheme; Kubanychbek Samakov (son of the former MP) along with other four their frontmen – with joint participation in a corruption scheme.

Furthermore, former prime minister of Kyrgyzstan Igor Chudinov, former first vice prime minister Iskander Aidaraliyev and former minister of agriculture and melioration Arstanbek Nogoyev are charged with abuse of power as they supposedly issued the governmental decree allowing transformation of the agricultural land located in Alamedin district of Chui region.

The criminal probe materials have been submitted by the Prosecutor General to the Oktyabrsky district court of Bishkek for consideration on the merits.
