Kazakhstan has no shortage of doctors: Vice Minister of Health

AKIPRESS.COM - doctor There is no shortage of doctors and medical technicians in Kazakhstan, Vice Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Yelzhan Birtanov said during the CCS media briefing on Friday.

“For the number of doctors and nurses per capita, Kazakhstan is in line with international standards. But there is imbalance in distribution of medical workers in urban and rural areas,” he added.

In addition, there are problems in the ratio of general practitioners and specialized doctors.

“We have a lot of surgeons, ophthalmologists, and other specialized doctors, but there are not enough therapists. To remedy this situation, there was introduced the system of personnel motivation, working in the field of general practice,” said Yelzhan Birtanov.

According to his speech, there have been developed a number of indicators, according to which such specialists receive material encouragements. Among them, for example, the successful implementation of preventive measures, as well as the identification of serious diseases in patients. The use of this system will allow attracting more specialists to the sphere of general practice, assured the Vice Minister.
