100-meter-high wall of sand appears in Inner Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - A powerful sandstorm swept across Eren Naoer Sumu of the Sonid Right Banner, an administration under Xilin Gol League, in the central part of Inner Mongolia yesterday afternoon.

Over 20,000 people were in the area attending a Naadam festival celebration when a hundred-meter-high wall of sand was seen roaring towards the festival ground, Shanghaiist.com reported.

The sandstorm closed in rapidly, turning the sky into a grey and brownish haze. Within about 10 minutes, the humongous wall of sand completely engulfed the festival ground.

The sandstorm lasted for about 30 minutes until a sudden rainfall kicked in and put an end to the nightmare. As the sky began to clear, the crowd returned to the venue and resumed their festivities, likely before going home to wash piles of sand out their hair.
