Roundtable on improvement of public services to be held in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - meeting-room Public Service Improvement Project financed by the Government of Switzerland will organize a roundtable on July 29, 2015 to discuss ways of improving public services at the municipal level in Kyrgyzstan.

The roundtable is aimed at developing sustainable partnership between the Public Service Improvement (PSI) Project and stakeholders interested in improving public services at the municipal level in Kyrgyzstan.

The event will bring together representatives of the State Agency of Local Self-Governance and Interethnic Relations, Prime Minister’s Office, other state organizations, the Embassy of Switzerland, donor agencies, development and independent experts to discuss public services’ provision and future cooperation with the PSI project.

The Government of Switzerland launched PSI Project in June 2015 to provide assistance to local authorities in Jalal-Abad and Issyk-Kul regions. The project is implemented by a consortium of organizations composed of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and Development Policy Institute.

Over the four years of the project’s first phase it will work closely with selected municipalities in Jalal-Abad and Issyk-Kul regions to improve access and ensure provision of quality services that respond to demands of citizens. It aims to improve services of local relevance such as waste collection, street lighting, housing and utility services, access to drinking water and other issues. The project will involve citizens in defining, implementing and monitoring services at the municipal level. It will contribute to overall improvement of life conditions in rural areas.
