AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbek Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Adham Ahmedbayev will visit Dushanbe to attend the meeting of Interior Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member-states set for June 4-6, AP reports.
Due to some tensions between the two neighboring countries in the 90s, Uzbekistan's Interior Ministers did not visit Tajikistan since 1998.
Besides the Uzbek Minister, the meeting will be attended by Russian Interior Minister Colonel-General Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Kyrgyz Interior Minister Major-General Melis Turganbayev, Interior Minister of Kazakhstan Colonel-General Kulmukhanbet Kasymov, and Minister of Public Security, State Councilor of China Guo Shengkun.
The meeting will be chaired by Tajik Minister of Internal Affairs Lieutenant- General Ramadan Rahimzoda.
Ministers will discuss the issues of cooperation in fighting cybercrime, terrorism, extremism and separatism.
Ministers are also expected to take part in China-Tajik joint exercises of special forces that will be held in Vakhdat.
