AKIPRESS.COM - President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti will visit Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on 1-5 June 2015.

In both countries, Chakrabarti will have high-level meetings with recently appointed governments to discuss the EBRD’s work and its strategic priorities.

He will reconfirm the commitment to these two countries and the Central Asian region as a whole, as the EBRD deepens its focus on re-energizing transition.

In Kazakhstan, he will also co-chair the Foreign Investors Council with President Nursultan Nazarbayev on 4 June in Astana.

The EBRD delegation will also include the new Managing Director for Turkey and Central Asia, Natalia Khanjenkova, and the outgoing Managing Director for the region, Olivier Descamps.

The delagates will also meet the local authorities, representatives from other international financial institutions, and from the business and diplomatic community.

To date, the EBRD has invested over $7 billion in Kazakhstan and over $550 million in Kyrgyzstan.
