Germany allocates 170,000 euros to support NGOs in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - regional-dialogue-grant-2015 Germany allocated a grant for 170,000 euros to the Regional Dialogue (Slovenia) to implementation of a project “Raising capacity of NGOs in Uzbekistan," reports the UzDaily news service.

On 18 May, Ambassador of Germany to Uzbekistan Neithart Hoefer-Wissing and head of Representative Office of Regional Dialogue in Uzbekistan Mjusa Sever signed an agreement on financing the project. The project will be implemented within a year.

Neithart Hoefer-Wissing said that each country needs people, who are interested in developing of the country. There should be institutes, which will work in the sphere of rule of law as it is an important condition for legal state. The partners and investors should be confident in such institutes and such projects on supporting NGOs are implemented to achieve the goal, he noted.

Mjusa Sever noted that she and her colleagues from Regional Dialogue are happy for cooperation within the project. She hoped that the project will attract attention of the Government of Uzbekistan to civil society institutes.

Sever underlined that the project will not focus only big NGOs, but also will work with small civil society institutes.

Within the project, it is planned to organize five regional seminars on raising capacity of NGOs and conference in Tashkent. The project will attract specialists from the US and EU.

Within it, local NGOs will receive knowledge on efficient management and financing of NGOs, submitting grant applications, etc.
