AKIPRESS.COM - A quarrel that got out of hand ended with five members of a Phoenix, Arizona, family discovered dead in their home Thursday night, hours after SWAT officers surrounded the house, police said.

All of the victims — three men and two women — were related, police said. The men were believed to be brothers, while the exact relationship of the women wasn't immediately clear. Authorities told NBC station KPNX that only one weapon was used and that they believe one of the victims shot the others and committed suicide.

"We believe this is a family dispute of some sort that has gone terribly wrong," Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump told reporters.

Police responded to a call reporting that shots had been fired about 2 p.m. (5 p.m. ET). A 30-year-old woman managed to get out of the house through the back door with two young children. A second woman escaped after having hidden for about an hour.

After several more hours went by as officers tried to learn what was going on inside the home, a tactical robot was sent into the house. It relayed images of the five bodies, three of which were upstairs and the others downstairs, police said.

Police said the investigation was being hampered by a "language barrier" because the women who got out alive don't speak English. The family is believed to be from Morocco, and the FBI provided an Arabic interpreter Thursday night, KPNX reported.
