KOICA to implement Project-related Performance with SDC on election support in Kyrgyz

AKIPRESS.COM - Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) sign an Arrangement on Delegated Cooperation in Election Support to the Kyrgyz Republic. On 17 March, KOICA Vice President for Strategic Planning Mr. In Kim visited the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic to sign an Arrangement on Delegated Cooperation with H.E. Dr. René Holenstein.

Along with supporting machines to Territorial Election Commissions (TECS) and Precinct Election Commissions (PECs), KOICA and SDC embarked on developing capacity of regarding staff so that both can assure the effectiveness and sustainability of the cooperation.

Such effort gave birth to the cooperation between KOICA and SDC in supporting more modernized election with precinct count optical scanner to the six cities of Batken, Jalal-Abad, Kant, Karakol, Naryn, and Talas from the support of the SDC. The KOICA project originally support Bishkek and Osh. The overall goal is to strengthen democratic practices in the election processes of the country, while focusing on capacity building of the Central Election Commission.

Since this cooperation is very meaningful in bilateral relations between the Switzerland and Republic of Korea, the Korean Embassy in Bishkek played a key role throughout the process.
