AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan have shocked the hosts China in their first match of the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group I, as Yaroslava Shvedova and Zarina Diyas got the victories in singles, reports Tennis World.
In the first match Zarina Diyas lost the first set 6-4 against Qiang Wang, but won the next two 6-4, 6-3 to give her side 1-0 lead. In the second match, World No.51 Yaroslaba Shvedova eased past Shuai Zhang in straight sets 6-0, 7-5 to earn the victory. China won the doubles as the final score of the tie was 2-1.
38-year-old Tamarine Tanasugarn gave Thailand lead by beating Chinese Taipei's 6-1, 6-0. Su-Wei Hsieh levelled it by beating Luksika Kumkhum 6-2, 6-1. The match was decided in doubles, where Thai team won 6-4, 6-3.
Uzbekistan and Japan won their matches easily, as they outclassed Hong Kong and South Korea 3-0 respectively.
