AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstani team is the second in the medal standings at the 2015 Winter Universiade as of January 28.
The Universiade started on January 24 and will be held in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia, until February 1.
On January 28, Team Kazakhstan hauled only one medal. Kazakhstani skier Anastasia Slonova won silver in Women's 5km Classic Race. To date, there are two gold and one silver medals in Kazakhstan's medal tally, Kazinform.kz reports.
Russia tops the overall standings with 8 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze medals. Poland and Slovakia share the third spot.
The Winter Universiade is an international sporting and cultural festival which is staged every two years in a different city. It is only second to the Olympic Games. The program of the Winter Universiade currently includes 6 compulsory sports (8 compulsory disciplines) and up to 3 optional sports chosen by the host country.
