Ashgabat hosts Turkmen-American business forum

AKIPRESS.COM - _DSC7125 Turkmen-American business forum started its work on January 21 in Ashgabat, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in cooperation with U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan and Turkmen-American business council.

U.S. Ambassador Allan Mustard expressed his appreciation to Turkmen side for the support of this meeting, marking its importance in the context of the developing Turkmen-American relations.

On the first day of the forum, the emphasis was placed on the priority areas of cooperation, such as the transport sphere, the sphere of information and communication technologies, partnership in innovation. Experts of the two countries discussed the projects in trade and transport infrastructure. The forum was held in three panel discussions on the topics of innovation in industry and agriculture, as well as the role of finance in economic development.

The first panel discussion was devoted to the discussion of the modern conditions of industrial development and production, by the practical introduction of innovative achievements of the scientists and experts in order to improve the quality and competitiveness of industrial products. During the second discussion, the results of the research in the agroindustrial complex and the issues of application of advanced technologies in the agricultural sector of Turkmenistan were reviewed. The third section was devoted to the role of finance in economic development.

On January 22, 2015 bilateral meetings of the heads and representatives of the ministries, departments and private companies of Turkmenistan were held with the representatives of the leading American business community, including the oil and gas industry, energy, transport and communications, agriculture, information technology, health care, science and education, financial activities. Special attention during the talks was given to the implementation of high-tech joint projects that are able to expand the area of innovation in the Turkmen-American cooperation.

Within the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Turkmen International University for the Humanities and Development and the State Wright University (Ohio, USA) has been signed.

Representatives of such American companies, as “Bell Helicopters”, “Flier Systems”, “Case New Holland”, “John Deer”, “ZeppelinCaterpillar”, “General Electric”, “Ford”, “Microsoft”, “IMB”, “Nicklaus Design” as well as financiers and representatives of academic circles, USA Agency on International development participated in work of the forum. From Turkmen side the meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the ministries and departments, banking and scientific institutions, Academy of Sciences, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
