AKIPRESS.COM - Some schools in Bishkek demand children to wear medical face masks to class and those who disobey are not admitted to class, the children say.

Such requirement is due to the recent outbreak of measles.

However, deputy chief medical officer of the Center of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of Bishkek Kurmanbek Omuraliyev told AKIpress that such a measure is on duty only in the hospitals.

Measles is a highly contagious viral infection of the respiratory system, immune system, and skin caused by a paramyxovirus of the genus Morbillivirus.

Symptoms usually develop 7–14 days (average 10–12) after exposure to an infected person and the initial symptoms usually include a high fever > 40 °C, Koplik's spots on the body, malaise, loss of appetite, hacking cough, runny nose and red eyes.
