AKIPRESS.COM - 4 Tajikistani nationals were abducted by Taliban militants in Amam Sahb district, Kunduz province, according to the report of Bakhtar news agency on December 21. 

Local authorities in the province say, the kidnapped people were Tajikistani border police forces and entered Amam Sahb district to cut down forests.

Amam Sahib District in Kunduz province has several kilometers border with Tajikistan.

Sayed Sarwar Hussaini spokesman of police chief in the province told BNA, when the Tajikistani soldiers without arms entered to Amam Sahib District to cut down forests kidnapped by Taliban militants.

Taliban militant hidden the Tajikistani nationals in Amam Sahib District, but operation started to release the nationals from the grip of insurgents, Hussaini added.

Earlier in November this year, the Talibs have abducted 16 employees of the Sher Hhan Bandar checkpoint.  On December 20, the news agency Pajhwok said six Sher Khan Port employees were released three weeks after they were abducted by insurgents in northern Kunduz province. Last week, seven of them were freed with the help of tribal elders.

16 employees of the port were abducted while returning home from office. Currently, three workers were being held by the insurgents and efforts were underway to secure their safe release.

In return for freeing each staffer Taliban had received up to 300,000 afghanis and one of their colleagues had escaped at night.
