UNFPA holds round table on population and development in Turkmenistan

Bishkek (AKIpress) - UNFPA in Turkmen UNFPA, the United Nations Populations Fund held a round table discussion on population priorities and development in Turkmenistan.

The event brought together high level policy decision-makers, government officials, UN agencies, civil society organizations and mass media.

The participants discussed recommendations of each regional and global event, current trends in the country and emerging national priorities within the framework of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) agenda.

The Government confirmed its political support for actions required for the full achievement of the goals and objectives of the Program of Action within the ICPD beyond 2014 framework.

They also highlighted the importance of investing in youth and adolescents since they make up nearly third of Turkmenistan’s population.
