First Kazakhstan's earth remote sensing satellite to be launched from Kourou cosmodrome

AKIPRESS.COM - kazcosmos The first Kazakhstan's earth remote sensing satellite will be launched from Kourou (French Guiana) on April 28, 2014 at 22:35 local time (April 29, 07:35 p.m. of Astana time), the press service of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan reported.

The first Kazakhstan's Earth remote sensing KazEOSat-1" satellite (Kazakhstan's Earth Observation Satellite) is designed by the French company Airbus Defence and Space (the former name - EADS Astrium).

KazEOSat-1 is designed to provide a full range of remote sensing services to obtain images of the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as other plots of Earth for monitoring, prevention of natural disasters, conducting the land cadastre, mapping to ensure defence and security of the country.

KazEOSat-1 will be put into sun-synchronous orbit (about 700 km from the Earth) by the European launcher “VEGA”.

The delegation of Kazakhstan headed by the Chairman of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan Talgat Mussabayev will be participating during the launch of KazEOSat-1 in French Guiana.

Earth remote sensing satellite consists of two spacecrafts of high and medium spatial resolutions and ground target complex and ground-based complex for controlling of Earth remote sensing spacecrafts in Astana.
