AKIPRESS.COM - Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday its global group sales in fiscal 2013 topped 10 million vehicles, becoming the world's first automaker to do so.

Sales in the year to March rose 4.5 percent from the year before to 10,133,000 vehicles on strong performances in North America and China. Toyota's group sales include those by Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd.

Domestic sales were also brisk on last-minute buying of cars prior to the hike in consumption tax to 8 percent from 5 percent on April 1.
