EU to consult Russia before signing Association Agreement with Ukraine

AKIPRESS.COM - EU+Ukraine The EU needs to consult the Russian side on an association agreement with Ukraine, said Stefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy of EU, The Voice of Russia reported.

According to Füle, the decision to consult with Moscow came up during the two stage process of signing the document. For now it hard to say if the meeting will actually take place. However, experts doubt that the negotiations between the EU and Moscow will really take place.

According to Arseniy Yatseniuk, the head of the Ukrainian government, Ukraine will sign the economic part of the agreement with the EU after the presidential election, which is scheduled for May 25. Some experts believe that the EU will try to hold the signing of the Agreement.

Ukraine signed the political part of the agreement with the EU on March 21.

Stefan Füle also mentioned that he hopes that the events in Crimea will not take place in Moldova and Georgia.
