Over 12,000 cubic meters of water pumped out in Astana in a day

AKIPRESS.COM - flood The Astana city utility services and workers of the Department of Emergency Situation hold flood control procedures in the capital of Kazakhstan, thus more than 12,000 cubic meters of water pumped out in Astana over a day, astana.kz reported.

Currently, there are no flooded houses in Astana, but there are several private yards and streets, where the water is being constantly pumped out. There are 62 flooded yards of private houses and 5 streets. From the start of the flood period 4,763 calls were received by district flood control commissions, and 513 calls have been worked out over this day, they pumped out 12,512 m3 of water, 233 equipment units were used, the Emergency Situations Department reports.

Along with that the agency recommends to do particular actions in case if the house is in the flooded area.

“It’s necessary to listen to the information carefully, take notice and follow the requirements of the flood control commission and rescue services, turn off the gas, electricity and water, put out the fire in the oven, bring valuable things and furniture to upper floors or attic, close doors and windows, or even nail them up. Animals should be released from rooms, one should unbend dogs, bring to the shed firewood and things that can float away; everything that can be spoiled by the water should be carried out from the basement, and get ready for evacuation”, the agency advises.
