Dilapidated movie theater in At-Bashi district requires some 5 million som for its rehabilitation

Bishkek (AKIpress) - The movie theater in At-Bashi district is in a dilapidated condition, local cinema directorate chief Bubuzura Akmatova said.

The 350-seat movie theater was put into operation in 1970. It won the best movie theater award several times before 2004.

Now the theater has only benches for viewers, which are broken. The equipment became unusable. In winter time locals take away wooden floor logs and winter frames for their stoves. The building framework has remained only, the rest was stolen, she complained.

The requests sent to the President, Prime Minister asking assistance in rehabilitation of the building remained unanswered, Ms. Akmatova said.

Around 5 million som will be required for rehabilitation of the movie theater, she said.
